Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade to an RTX 5060 Ti and need advice on power supply requirements. My current setup has a Ryzen 5 9600X, 16GB RAM, and a basic 500W PSU. Should I upgrade the PSU too? What wattage would you recommend for stable performance and future-proofing? Also considering efficiency ratings - is 80+ Gold worth the extra cost over Bronze? Any specific brand recommendations? Thanks for the help!

Ok so, I'm gonna disagree slightly with just grabbing any 600W unit. Buying based on wattage alone is basically the biggest mistake you can make when upgrading. - **Quality over Quantity**: A generic 600W PSU can actually be dangerous. If you're current 500W is a "basic" unit, it probably lacks the voltage ripple control for a modern GPU. Always check a reputable tier list before buying. - **Efficiency pays off**: Tbh, 80+ Gold is definitely worth the extra $15-20. It's not just about the power bill; Gold units almost always use better internal capacitors that last way longer and handle heat better. - **Connector Safety**: With the 50 series, you really want a PSU that natively supports the newer power standards (like ATX 3.0/3.1) so you don't have to mess with adapters that might melt if they aren't seated perfectly. Honestly, a solid 650W Gold unit is the sweet spot for a 9600X build. It gives you some breathing room without spending a fortune on wattage you'll never use tho. Don't cheap out on the one part that can fry everything else!
