Hey everyone! I’m finally looking to upgrade my setup, but my budget is pretty tight—ideally under $900. I really want to dive into modern AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Starfield without the frame rates dropping to a slideshow. I’ve been looking at the Lenovo LOQ and Acer Nitro series, but I’m worried about thermal throttling or poor screen color accuracy at this price point. I need something reliable that can handle 1080p gaming on medium-to-high settings for the next few years. Does anyone have experience with these models, or is there a hidden gem I’m missing? What’s the best bang-for-your-buck laptop right now that won't overheat during a long gaming session?

So I actually just went through this whole search myself! I mean, it's basically a choice between thermals and screen quality at $900. I tried the Acer Nitro V 15 (Intel Core i5-13420H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, 8GB DDR5, 512GB SSD) and while it's cheap, it felt kinda loud and hot during long sessions. But the Lenovo LOQ 15 (AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD) is definitely better built. Honestly, the cooling is decent but the screen is just... okay? Like, it works but colors are a bit dull for Cyberpunk tbh. The real winner for me was the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (2023) (AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD). I found it on sale and it handles Starfield way better than I expected. Between the three, I'd say LOQ for build quality, Nitro for saving cash, and TUF for the best balance. If ur worried about heat, maybe get a cooling pad too? Good luck!

So basically the consensus is:
• Lenovo wins on thermals.
Gigabyte G5 KF RTX 4060 8GB is a beast! Honestly, that 4060 is literally amazing for Starfield... definitely a hidden gem! gl!

Thermal headroom is basically everything for stable fps. Without adequate TDP management, you'll lag. In my experience, just go with a Lenovo; their cooling is reallyyy solid and I'm super satisfied.
