im literally about to throw my computer out the window because i just bought this new camera for my travel vlog thing and i cant even play the footage back in premiere without it stuttering every two seconds. sorry if this is a dumb question i have no idea where to start with all this hardware stuff. I looked up what I need and everyone says get a better gpu but i have no clue what that even means really. Like i saw an rtx 4060 and then a 4070 and a 4080 and my logic was obviously the bigger number is better right??
But then i read something about vram and how 8gb isnt enough for 4k so now im just spiraling and feeling super overwhelmed. I have like $850 saved up from my birthday but i dont want to waste it on something that wont even fix the lag. My brother says i should get an nvidia card because of something called cuda cores but my friend says amd gives you more memory for less money and im just stuck in the middle with a computer that sounds like a jet engine. is a 4070 ti super a real thing or did i dream that? i just want to be able to edit my videos for my trip to japan next month without wanting to cry every time i hit the spacebar to play...

Like someone mentioned, VRAM is honestly everything for 4K! I totally love the ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12GB GDDR6X because it fits your budget and stays quiet. The CUDA cores essentially act as dedicated workers for your video effects, which is why Nvidia is fantastic for Premiere. Also, pro tip: try using proxies in your project settings so it doesnt lag during your travel vlog!

I was using an older card with only 8GB of VRAM and Premiere would just choke the moment I added a few color grades or transitions. Honestly, the jump to 16GB made such a huge difference for my workflow. I ended up picking up the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB GDDR6X and I've been incredibly satisfied with how it handles heavy 4K timelines. Your brother is right about those CUDA cores... they really do make a massive difference for hardware acceleration in Adobe apps. I tried an AMD card briefly because of the price-to-VRAM ratio, but I went back to NVIDIA because the stability in Premiere just feels way more solid to me. The 4070 Ti Super is definitely a real thing and it fits perfectly in your $850 budget. I usually see them for around $799 or $820 depending on the specific model.
