Honestly, $1500 for a 5080 is pretty steep, even for the TUF build quality. Yeah, the cooler is definitely over-engineered, but idk if the performance gains over MSRP cards actually justify that premium for most users. IIRC, the OC variant doesn't always guarantee better silicon lottery results anyway, it's mostly just paying for the factory binning. A few technical things to consider before dropping that much cash:
- The VRM layout is likely identical to the non-OC model, just with a slightly adjusted power curve.
- Not sure, but I think the power limit on this BIOS might be capped lower than the flagship enthusiast boards.
- You definitely need to check if your PSU has a native 12V-2x6 connector to avoid using those bulky adapters. Basically, if you need a card right now, it's an option, but I'd be hesitant about the price-to-performance ratio here. Idk, maybe wait for more independent thermal benchmarks before committing???
