I just got this new laptop and it only has those tiny holes for charging and nothing else and im honestly so confused. I need to plug in my mouse and a screen when im working at my desk but i also need to pack it for a trip to Italy in like three weeks. I saw some hubs on Amazon that look like little grey boxes but people say they get really hot or stop working after a week and I dont want to fry my computer. My budget is around 60 bucks maybe. Sorry if this is a stupid question but what is the most reliable usb-c hub for home and travel that wont just stop working on me?

Regarding what #2 said about "> My budget is around 60 bucks maybe...." - unfortunately, many cheaper hubs skip the HDMI 2.0 controller. I had issues with 30Hz refresh rates making my mouse feel laggy.

  • Baseus 7-in-1 USB C Hub 4K 60Hz HDMI 100W PD supports 60Hz and stays cool.
  • Satechi Slim Multi-Port Adapter V2 4K HDMI 60W PD handles 60W power and is very reliable for travel. Spending around 50 bucks is the sweet spot for safety. Have a blast in Italy!

> My budget is around 60 bucks maybe. You dont need to spend that much! I love the Ugreen Revodok 107 7-in-1 USB-C Hub and it only costs like 30 bucks. It handles 4K HDMI at 60Hz which is amazing for a cheap hub, plus it has 100W power delivery. It stays surprisingly cool even when I have my mouse, keyboard, and monitor plugged in all day! Totally recommend it for travel too.

I went through this exact search last year when I upgraded my laptop. After testing a couple of cheap ones that got way too hot, I bought the Anker 555 USB-C Hub 8-in-1 and it has been absolutely solid for both my desk setup and traveling. It fits right into your budget at around 50 dollars. Here is why this one works so well in my experience:

  • It has 8 ports including HDMI for your screen, regular USB ports for your mouse, and a USB-C port that supports power delivery so you can charge your laptop through the hub itself.
  • The build quality is excellent. It gets slightly warm when charging, but never hot enough to cause concern, which was my main worry with cheaper brands.
  • It is compact and lightweight, making it very easy to pack for trips. I took it on a two-week trip to Europe recently and had zero issues.
  • The connection is incredibly stable. I have never experienced screen flickering or dropped mouse connections, which is a common complaint with budget hubs. You really do not need to spend more than 60 bucks to get something reliable. I have been using mine daily for over nine months now and I have absolutely no complaints.
