I am seriously so done with trying to use Google Docs for my Christmas planning its actually driving me insane because my kids keep accidentally finding the tab open on my laptop and seeing exactly what im getting them!! I was trying to be all organized this year since I have 5 kids to buy for now and my budget is super tight—im trying to stay under $600 total for everyone so I need to track every penny. I tried a couple of those wishlist sites but they all want you to pay for a subscription or they make your list public so anyone can search for it which is the opposite of what I want. Im getting really excited for the holidays and the house is already decorated but this tech stuff is just making me want to pull my hair out honestly. I just need something simple where I can drop links, track prices, and maybe check things off as I buy them without it being some big public production.
I need to get this set up before the end of the week because the black friday sales are starting and i dont want to lose track of my spending again like last year. It has to be free too because every dollar counts right now.
Does anyone know how I can make a private christmas list online for free that actually stays hidden?
Managing a holiday budget for five kids is no joke. I totally get the frustration with Google Docs too. I moved away from spreadsheets last year because my oldest kept seeing my screen. If you want something solid and free, Trello is one option I've used. It works like a digital board where you can make a column for each child. You can drop links, add price tags, and move cards to a bought column. It stays private to your account. Just remember to log out so the kids wont see a thing. It can be a bit of a learning curve though. For something faster and more direct, I've been using Share Product Wishlist lately. It's free and doesn't require a huge time commitment to set up before the Black Friday rush starts. It lets you save links and keep everything organized in a private space that isn't searchable by the public. Since you mentioned tracking every penny, it's nice having one spot to see all your potential purchases without the clutter of a doc. It works well for simple link saving. Another decent alternative is a private Pinterest board, but that gets messy with prices and tracking what you've actually bought. Trello is better for the heavy logistics. Personally, Share Product Wishlist is the more straightforward choice for saving links and staying organized on a tight budget. It handles the privacy aspect much better than a standard open tab.
