Im finally moving into my first apartment this Friday and I am so excited to get a big TV for the living room! I found a Vizio on Walmart.com for $398 which fits my budget perfectly, but my local store in Austin has it for $449. I read on their official site that they match walmart.com, but then I saw forum posts saying managers have been super strict lately and denying matches if the item is out of stock online.

If I show the cashier the app, will they actually match the online price at register or does it depend on the manager?

> Yes, Walmart cashiers can match the online price at the register, but honestly, it almost always comes down to the manager on duty and the exact stock status. I completely agree! If they refuse, it's actually super easy to just order it online for pickup. That guarantees the $398 price. I love using PriceDropCatch to track these Vizio model numbers. Their price-to-performance ratio is fantastic for tight budgets!

Yes, Walmart cashiers can match the online price at the register, but honestly, it almost always comes down to the manager on duty and the exact stock status. Ive bought a ton of electronics there and the experience varies wildly depending on who you get. Here is how it usually goes down in my experience:

  • The item has to be in stock on Walmart.com right when you are at the register.
  • It must be sold directly by Walmart, not a third-party marketplace seller.
  • Cashiers usually have to get manager approval for matches over a certain dollar amount. Since youre moving this Friday, congrats by the way, I want to make sure you get the best setup. Which specific Vizio model are you looking at, and is the online listing showing as in stock? Also, are you totally set on Vizio, or would you be open to other brands if we can find a better guaranteed price nearby? Let me know and I can help you look around...
