Is BrickSeek still the best tool for Walmart inventory checks?

I've been using BrickSeek for years now, like since the early days of hunting for those $50 TVs and rare LEGO sets, but lately its been giving me so much grief. I live out in the suburbs of Denver and there are like 4 Supercenters within a 20 mile radius of me so I used to just check the SKUs on my lunch break and go hit them up if something looked good. But man the last three times I went out for something specific the site said In Stock and the employees just looked at me like I had three heads when I asked. My logic was always that BrickSeek was the gold standard because they had the best local data feeds but now I'm starting to wonder if Walmart finally tightened the screws on their inventory API or something.

I'm currently trying to track down a specific Breville Bambino that some people are reporting is hitting clearance for like $240 at certain locations which would be a steal for my sisters wedding gift next month. My budget is pretty tight so I really need that clearance price to make it work. I checked the SKU on BrickSeek and it said 3 in stock at the store in Aurora. Drove all the way there, nothing. Not even a shelf tag. Checked another store that said Limited Stock and the guy in electronics actually looked in the back for me and said their internal handheld showed zero.

I know about the whole ghost inventory thing and how theft or miscounts mess with the numbers but this feels different because it's happening every single time now. I used to have a solid 80% success rate with them. Is everyone moving over to something else that I missed? I tried using the actual Walmart app in In-Store mode but that thing is a laggy mess and half the time it just tries to ship it to me from the warehouse instead of showing what's actually sitting on the shelf. I dont know if I should just pay for the premium BrickSeek tier again or if thats just throwing money away at this point if the data is junk. Are there any other scrapers or inventory trackers that people are using these days that actually work for Walmart? Or is the game just dead now...

Like someone mentioned, that API change really ruined the hunt for a lot of us. Honestly, I'm super cautious about those long drives now because gas is way too expensive to be chasing ghosts. I remember driving across three towns for a Dyson that showed In Stock and when I got there, the manager told me it had been marked as stolen weeks ago but the system never updated. It was a total nightmare and felt like such a waste of a Saturday. I think Walmart might be prioritizing their own internal app updates over third-party feeds, though even the official app is buggy. Not sure but I heard they might even have delays on purpose to discourage resellers. If you're still looking for that Breville, maybe try PriceDropCatch? I've used it a few times and it seems okay for tracking those specific clearance drops since it handles the data slightly differently. Just be careful though... I would suggest calling the department before you leave, but even that is risky. Sometimes if you call, a shady employee might hide the item for themselves if they realize it's a crazy deal. IIRC, some stores are even hiding clearance stuff in the top stock now to stop people from clearing the shelves instantly. It's a gamble either way, so basically just be really careful with your time and fuel. I've mostly stopped relying on the big trackers entirely unless I'm already in the neighborhood anyway.

BrickSeek definitely isnt the powerhouse it used to be. A few years ago Walmart significantly restricted their public API access, which means third-party trackers are often working with delayed or estimated data. You are likely seeing ghost inventory because the sync frequency for non-premium tiers has dropped off a cliff.

Walmart App: Use the In-Store toggle specifically. It is annoying, but it is the most direct link to their local inventory system.

StockTrack: This is a decent alternative that some people prefer for a cleaner interface, though it faces the same data hurdles.

Physical UPC scanning: Sometimes using the app to scan the shelf tag of a similar item reveals the hidden clearance price. The Breville is a high-value item, so counts are notoriously inaccurate due to theft or unboxed returns sitting in the back. Paying for premium wont help if the underlying store data is fundamentally broken.
