Hey everyone! So, Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals on 85 inch TVs, huh? I'm seriously on the hunt!

Okay, story time: We've been rocking a kinda sad 55-inch in the living room for way too long. It was fine when it was just me and the cat, but now the family's grown, and trying to watch movies together is like peering through a porthole. My wife keeps dropping hints (read: not-so-subtle suggestions) about upgrading. She's already envisioned cozy family movie nights with piles of blankets and popcorn, and I'm kinda feeling the pressure to deliver! Plus, football season is in full swing, and my buddies are constantly ribbing me about my 'vintage' setup.

I've been doing some preliminary research, mostly online reviews and comparisons, and I'm leaning towards an 85-inch 4K LED. OLED looks amazing, but honestly, the price jump is a bit scary. My budget is probably around $1500, maybe stretching to $1800 if a truly incredible deal comes along. I'm really hoping to snag something during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales to make the wife happy and finally silence the peanut gallery (aka my friends).

I'm located in the suburbs of Chicago, so I'm hoping to find a deal either online or at a local store like Best Buy or Costco. Delivery is a must, because there's no WAY that thing is fitting in my hatchback! I know everyone's after the same deals, but any tips or heads-ups on specific models to watch out for? Anyone seen any early leaks or rumors that seem promising? I'm feeling a mix of excitement and total overwhelm right now.

So, bottom line: What 85-inch TVs should I be keeping a close eye on during Black Friday/Cyber Monday to get the best bang for my buck (ideally under $1800)? Are there specific brands or models known for having deep discounts during these sales? Thanks in advance for any help – I'm counting on your collective wisdom!

Just catching up on this. Honestly, if youre thinking long-term, dont just look at the sticker price. Ive owned big panels for years and the real value is in the processing and longevity. Look for the Sony X90L 85 inch during the Black Friday window. It should hit that $1800 sweet spot. While others focus on peak nits, Sony's XR Cognitive Processor handles motion interpolation for football way better than the budget brands, and you wont see as much blooming around subtitles over time. Since youre near a Costco in the burbs, thats your best bet. They usually bundle a 5-year protection plan. For a screen this size, that warranty is worth a couple hundred bucks easy because if the FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) goes wonky in year three, youre covered. Cheaper sets often have software that gets laggy after a few updates, but the higher-end SOCs in the Sony sets tend to stay snappy. Definitely get the delivery service tho, these boxes are massive and a pain to handle yourself.

Dude, I totally get the TV upgrade pressure! My garage reno was the same deal, lol. For your budget and size, I'd seriously check out the Hisense U8 series. I snagged an open-box 75" U8H last year for around $900 and it's AMAZING for sports and movies. I've seen the 85" models dip below $1600 during sales. Might be worth a look! It's no OLED, but the brightness and color are fantastic. Good luck with the hunt!

Hey there! I understand the pressure for the big screen upgrade. Before jumping on the 85-inch bandwagon, might want to consider the viewing distance. Too close and it could be a strain! There are online calculators to figure out the optimal screen size for your viewing distance. If the calculator suggests smaller, perhaps a higher-quality 75-inch OLED like the Sony A80K (keep an eye out, they sometimes dip close to your budget) would be a better, more comfortable experience? Just a thought – better to be informed before you buy! And be careful moving that TV – definitely get help or professional installation, those things are heavy! I would suggest measuring your space. Make sure.

Hey! Totally get the big screen fever. Everyone's so focused on specs and prices, but lemme throw a wrench in: think about the wall mount! I cheaped out once, and almost had a disaster when the thing started pulling away from the wall. Now, I always overbuild.

For an 85-inch, I'd suggest getting a heavy-duty mount rated for at least 150lbs, even if the TV is lighter. Check the wall studs carefully – you might need to add some extra support. Trust me, a few extra bucks on a solid mount and some reinforcement is way cheaper than a new TV *and* drywall repair. Been there, done that after trying to save $20 on a sketchy mount.

Also, don't forget surge protection! Power surges can fry these things in a heartbeat. A good surge protector is cheap insurance. Found one for $40 at Home Depot.

Black Friday deals are great, but safety first! Happy viewing, and let me know if you have wall-mounting questions!

Hey! I totally get the TV pressure – feels like buying car parts, so many choices! Everyone's suggesting Hisense and TCL, which are great value, but don't forget Samsung.

Over the years, I've found Samsung's upscaling to be surprisingly good, especially with older movies. You might find a Samsung 85" QLED (maybe the Q60 or Q70 series) on sale for around $1600-1800. Even if it's a slightly older model, their picture processing can make a big difference.

Just a thought – have you checked out Greentoe? They let you name your price and dealers compete. Might be worth a shot! Let me know if you want to chat more about it.

Hey! I hear you on the TV upgrade quest. Everyone's chasing those Black Friday deals! While the Hisense U8 (mentioned above) is a solid choice, don't sleep on TCL! For pure bang-for-your-buck, they're tough to beat, especially if you're stretching the budget.

I snagged a TCL 75" 6-Series a couple years back for around $900 during a pre-Black Friday sale, and the picture is AMAZING for the price. I'd bet you can find an 85" TCL (maybe the 5-Series or even a discounted 6-Series from last year) within your $1800 budget if you're diligent. Keep an eye on sites like Slickdeals and set up price alerts. Also, check out greentoe.com - you can name your price and see if a retailer bites! Delivery is usually included. Good luck, and happy hunting!
