I'm on the hunt for the best tablet for my 8-year-old in 2024. With so many options out there, I'm feeling overwhelmed. What are your top picks for kid-friendly tablets this year? I'm looking for something durable, with good parental controls, and educational content. Battery life and price are also factors.
The Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro is the top choice for older kids (6-12). It features a vibrant 10.1-inch display, octa-core processor, and 3GB RAM. With a 2-year warranty and Amazon Kids+ subscription, it's excellent value at $199.
For younger children (3-7), the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids offers a durable design, bright display, and strong parental controls. While lacking Google Play Store access, it's perfect for basic tasks and video watching.
Budget-conscious buyers should consider the Amazon Fire 7. At just $70, it provides decent performance for its price, making it ideal for media consumption. However, it has a low-res display and lock screen ads.
For those preferring Apple, the 2022 iPad is the most affordable option. It features the A14 Bionic chip, USB-C charging, and an updated design. While pricier than Amazon alternatives, it offers access to the extensive App Store and excellent performance.
Amazon has Fire tablets for Kid. Highly recommended !
Good to know!
iPad mini.
I don't recommend kids to use tablets, just read books.
> I'm looking for something durable, with good parental controls, and educational content. Battery life and price are also factors. So, I went through the whole Fire tablet phase with my oldest and honestly, it was a headache. We kept hitting walls with app compatibility since it doesnt have the real Play Store. Maybe look at the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 11-inch 64GB instead. Its way more versatile for an 8-year-old who might actually need school apps or specific games that just dont run right on those locked-down OS versions. One thing tho, be careful because it's not rugged out of the box like the kids-specific tablets. I learned that the hard way when it slid off the kitchen table... luckily the screen survived. Youll definitely want to grab a Spigen Tough Armor Case for Galaxy Tab A9+ or something similar to keep it safe. Setting up Google Kids Space takes a bit more effort than Amazon's system, but its worth it for the better app selection. Just make sure to double check the storage because 64GB fills up faster than you'd think with all those videos.
