Best Gaming Monitor for Eye Strain?

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming monitor but have been experiencing significant eye strain with my current setup. I've tried several high-refresh-rate monitors, but they all seem to irritate my eyes after a short period. What features should I look for in a gaming monitor to minimize eye strain? Are there specific brands or models that are known to be easier on the eyes? Any advice on settings or adjustments that could help would also be appreciated!

Different monitor panel types can significantly impact eye comfort during long computer sessions. After testing various panels (IPS, VA, TN) from major manufacturers, I found VA and TN panels generally cause less eye strain during extended use.

While IPS panels are popular, many users report eye strain, headaches, and dizziness, particularly with Nano IPS displays. BenQ is an exception, producing high-quality IPS monitors optimized for eye comfort, though at premium prices.

VA panels, found in monitors like the Samsung Odyssey series and AOC models, consistently perform well for eye comfort during long sessions. TN panels also show good results for reducing eye fatigue.

For those working 12+ hours at a computer, VA or TN panels are recommended. While some IPS monitors can be improved through settings adjustments (disabling features like FreeSync, adjusting dynamic range), VA and TN panels generally provide better long-term comfort for extended use.

SAMSUNG Odyssey NEO G7: Known for its vivid, curved display, this monitor offers a high refresh rate (240Hz) and a 1ms response time, which are great for gaming. While it lacks specific eye strain features, its immersive design can help reduce eye fatigue.

For eye strain, consider monitors with low blue light emission, flicker-free technology, and adjustable brightness. The BenQ EW2780Q (27", 1440p) is a great choice with its Eye-Care tech and built-in speakers. Alternatively, the ASUS VG279QM (27", 1080p, 280Hz) offers excellent motion clarity and blue light filters. Both prioritize comfort during long gaming sessions. Don’t forget to adjust settings and take regular breaks to further reduce strain!
