Hey everyone, I’m planning to build a new gaming rig and just picked up an RX 7700 XT. I’m trying to figure out the best CPU to pair with it to avoid bottlenecks and maximize performance. I’ve heard mixed opinions about whether to go with AMD or Intel, and I’m not sure if I should prioritize core count, clock speeds, or something else entirely.

For context, I’ll mostly be gaming at 1440p, but I also do some light streaming and video editing. Budget isn’t a huge concern, but I’d like to stay in the mid-to-high range without overspending on something overkill. Any recommendations for CPUs that balance well with the RX 7700 XT? TIA.

7800X3D is a great CPU. https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-7800X3D-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B0BTZB7F88?------123456890?7649-20

> Any X3D processors. I agree that those chips are basically the best for cache-heavy gaming right now, but I kind of wonder if it is really necessary for this specific build? I am still pretty new to this but I have been reading up on the DIY side of things and it seems like those high-end chips might be total overkill for a 7700 XT at 1440p resolution. Honestly, if you are handling the assembly yourself, you might find more value in a mid-range chip that you can tune. You could use the leftover budget for a better NVMe or maybe some nicer fans.

  • check some DIY bottleneck benchmarks
  • look into manual PBO tuning or undervolting
  • try to find a chip that hits that 1440p sweet spot I think the self-service approach is way more rewarding than just buying the most expensive part... do you really want to pay for cycles that your GPU cant keep up with anyway? Not 100 percent sure but it feels like a waste of potential money... what do you think?

Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
