I’m building a new PC with a Ryzen 5 5600X and need advice on RAM. I’ve heard Ryzen CPUs benefit from faster RAM, but I’m not sure what speed and latency to aim for. Should I go for 3200MHz CL16 or 3600MHz CL18? Also, does dual-channel vs. single-channel make a big difference? I’m looking for 16GB or 32GB for gaming and productivity. Any recommendations for specific brands or kits that work well with AMD’s Infinity Fabric? Thanks in advance!

G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 is what I'd recommend. It's specifically optimized for AMD systems and the infinity fabric on Ryzen 5000 works best with 3600MHz RAM in a 1:1 ratio. I've been running this in my 5900X build with zero issues. Worth the slight premium over budget options.

My Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHz CL14 actually outperforms some 3600MHz CL18 kits in real-world tasks.

I've tested several kits with my 5900X, and Crucial Ballistix 3600MHz CL16 offers tremendous value. These Micron E-die chips overclock beautifully - I pushed mine to 3800MHz CL16 with tight timings. The performance improvement in productivity apps is noticeable. No RGB tax if you don't need the light show, and they run cool even under stress.
