I just purchased an ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus motherboard for my new Ryzen 7 7700X build. Looking for DDR5 RAM recommendations that work well with this board.
Will be primarily gaming with some video editing. Would prefer good XMP compatibility and decent timings. Any specific brands/models to seek out or avoid? RGB is a bonus but not required.
I've been running 32GB (2x16) of G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR5-6000 CL30 with my B650-Plus for about a year with zero issues. Rock solid with EXPO enabled and great performance with my 7700X. Just make sure to update to the latest BIOS first.
Totally agree with what was said - sticking to that 6000MHz speed really seems to be the way to go with the 7700X. Since youre doing video editing, honestly, the most important thing is making sure the system doesnt crash halfway through a render. I am still kind of a beginner with all the timing stuff, but I spent a lot of time looking into what is *actually* reliable for the TUF B650 specifically. I dont care as much about tiny speed boosts as I do about not having to deal with blue screens. Here are a couple of solid options that are known for being super stable: * Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz CL30 AMD EXPO - I like this because it is low profile and Corsair is usually great with compatibility on ASUS boards.
* Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 6000MHz CL30 - I have heard Kingston is basically the king of reliability if you arent planning on overclocking manually. Basically, just double check the ASUS QVL list on their website before you buy anything - it lists every single stick they actually tested with your board. It might save you a huge headache later!
