Building a PC with the ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-Plus WiFi. What's the best RAM speed/capacity to get for gaming on a budget of around $200?
Same setup here, love it
Been running Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 5200MHz on my Z790 since last year. Happy with it! No complaints, works well for my games. Stays stable, even when overclocking my CPU.
Z790's sweet spot is DDR5-6000 CL30. Some folks chase 6400+, but stability can be hit-or-miss, especially on a budget. 32GB (2x16GB) is plenty for gaming. Crucial's often a decent option. Spend the extra few bucks on a kit with a heat spreader; it helps, especially if you're pushing the clocks later on. Realistically, 6000MHz is the sweet spot for most users, it works.
For that budget, 32GB 5200MHz should be good. Watch for Corsair Vengeance deals, might save some cash.
Before speed, consider RAM stability, especially on Z790. I've unfortunately had issues pushing cheaper kits. For a safe bet, aim for a reputable brand's 32GB DDR5-5600 kit. Check QVL, and don't automatically enable XMP; test stability first. Seen too many systems crash long-term chasing benchmarks. Corsair Vengeance has been reliable for me.
For Z790, 32GB DDR5-6000 is sweet spot. Corsair Vengeance usually benchmarks well, but check current pricing trends. Consider professional install; RAM compatibility is key for stability.
