I am so stressed out right now because I start my computer science classes next month and I have literally no clue what I am doing. I went to the store and the guy started talking about processors and cores and I just got so confused and walked out empty handed because everything is so expensive. I dont even know if I need a Mac or a PC or if it even matters for a beginner. My budget is 600 dollars max which I know isnt a lot but I really need something that wont lag out while im trying to learn Python or whatever.

  • Under $600
  • Needs to last at least 3 years
  • Good battery so I dont have to hunt for plugs in class

Sorry if this is a dumb question I just have no idea where to start and I dont want to waste my money...

tbh you gotta be careful with those super cheap display models. for coding, you really want 16gb ram if you can swing it, tho 8gb works for basic python. I would suggest something like the Acer Swift Go 14 Ryzen 5 7530U 16GB RAM 512GB SSD. just make sure to avoid anything with a celeron chip or youll definitely regret it in a year... those things are basically e-waste for developers.
