Trying to finish my 4K editing build but the 5090 costs are killing me. I saw some rumors on Twitter about a $1600 launch but then some forum guys say scalpers will double that instantly. My budget is capped at $1800 max. Does anyone think we will get a price drop soon after launch or is it gonna stay high?

Building on the earlier suggestion, that budget is tight. You might wanna look at:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X It handles 4K editing perfectly and stays under your 1800 cap.

dont hold your breath for that 1600 price tag man. I have been through enough of these gpu launches to know that msrp is basically a myth for the first six months. if your hard cap is 1800 dollars, you are cutting it way too close for a flagship card like that. scalpers are gonna be all over it instantly, and even the regular stores usually mark up their cards way above the base price for the fancy triple-fan models. honestly, i would suggest being super careful about blowing your whole budget on a card that might not even be available at launch. it is way better to have a rock-solid system than a gpu you overpaid for by 500 bucks because you got fomo. if the 5090 ends up being overpriced or impossible to find, maybe look at a ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 OG OC Edition 24GB if the price drops once the new series finally hits. it is still a total beast for 4k editing and way more predictable for your wallet. also, make sure to check your power supply before you buy anything. i have seen people fry components because they did not account for those power spikes. if you arent already set, something like the EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G+ 80 Plus Gold 1300W is a safer bet for stability with high-end cards. just take it slow and wait for actual benchmarks... it is never worth the stress of fighting bots just to get price-gouged.
