Im trying to finish my build by next Friday and I keep seeing everyone say the 7800X3D is the king but then others say for 4K it doesnt even matter because the gpu does all the heavy lifting. It makes me so nervous because I dont want to waste money if a cheaper chip does the same thing at high res but I really dont want to bottleneck my new 4090. Im in the UK and my local shop has the 7900X on sale which is just making me more confused.
Is the X3D actually worth it for 4K or am I overthinking this...
tbh i was super nervous about picking the right part for my 4090 too but i ended up going with the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2GHz 8-Core Processor and i'm really satisfied with it. even at 4K you still want those solid 1% lows so the game feels smooth and doesnt hitch during intense scenes. the 7900X is okay but i wouldnt bother for a gaming build... it's more of a productivity chip and you might run into weird issues with the dual CCD layout. the x3d just works well and i havent had a single complaint since i dropped it in. i've been playing heavy stuff like cyberpunk and it stays so cool and stable. since you're in the uk, you can find it for around £340 right now. honestly it's just safer to get the chip everyone knows is the king so you dont have to worry about bottlenecks. its the best way to make sure that 4090 actually gets to stretch its legs properly.
Saw this earlier... honestly i am super satisfied with my AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 4.7GHz 6-Core. Since you are playing at 4K, you can definitely save some cash.
