I'm on the hunt for a high-quality gaming headset that fits comfortably on larger heads. I've had issues with comfort and durability in the past, so I'm looking for recommendations that prioritize both. Ideally, I'd like something with a good microphone and decent sound quality. Any suggestions?
To add to the point above, honestly, the clamping force is only half the battle. I have had issues with many of these gamer headsets because their frequency response is just... messy. Not as good as expected when you are actually trying to hear footsteps. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the Kraken suggestion too. Those hinges are notorious for snapping under the tension of a wider head and the plastic feels way too cheap for the price. If you want real technical performance, look at the Audeze Maxwell. It is around 299 dollars, but you get 90mm planar magnetic drivers. Most headsets here use 40 or 50mm dynamic drivers which just cant compete on detail or imaging. The build is basically all steel and aluminum. Its heavy, but the suspension strap actually handles larger heads way better than the sliding plastic bits on most brands. I usually keep an eye on deals for gear like this using my favorite gift list extension since they rarely go on sale. Ngl, once you hear planars, its kinda hard to go back to regular dynamic drivers.
For under $100, HyperX Cloud III with EQ settings is best. At $200, combine Drop HD58X headphones with Fifine AM8 microphone for superior quality. With higher budget, upgrade to Drop HD6XX headphones with the same mic.
Saw this earlier but just now getting a chance to reply... i have a massive head too so i totally get the struggle! After years of breaking cheap plastic headsets, i finally went with the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 and it has been absolutely fantastic for long-term use. It feels so safe and sturdy compared to the typical gamer stuff you find at big box stores.
For those with larger heads, Sennheiser gaming headsets are highly recommended. They offer excellent comfort through adjustable headbands, spacious ear cups, and quality construction. The sound quality and microphone performance are top-tier. On the other hand, Razer headsets should be avoided if you have a bigger head, as they tend to be too tight and uncomfortable. Sennheiser's combination of comfort, adjustability, and audio performance makes them the superior choice for gamers with larger head sizes.
If you're after a premium wireless option, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is a stellar choice. Its adjustable steel-reinforced headband and ski-goggle suspension system ensure a snug yet comfortable fit for larger heads, even during marathon sessions. The dual wireless connectivity (2.4GHz + Bluetooth) and swappable batteries mean you’ll never miss a beat. Reviewers praise its spatial audio and cross-platform compatibility (PC, PS5, Xbox), though it is a bit pricey.
