I've been trying to level up my video content lately, but the manual editing process is becoming such a massive time-sink. I’m really curious about how AI can help maintain professional quality without the endless hours spent in Premiere Pro. I’m specifically looking for tools that excel at high-resolution upscaling and AI-driven b-roll generation that actually looks realistic rather than glitchy. I've heard mixed reviews about things like Runway and Pika, so I’m wondering what’s truly production-ready for 4K exports and smooth frame rates. Does anyone have a tried-and-tested AI tool stack they’re currently using for high-quality commercial projects?

Wasted cash on subs before grabbing Topaz Video AI 4.0 for $249. It felt more reliable than glitchy web tools, tho I still saw artifacts... not as good as expected tbh.

Honestly, if your looking for reliability over those glitchy web apps, you gotta stick to tools that actually integrate with your NLE. Web tools are basically a gamble with your footage and privacy tbh.

  • Use DaVinci Resolve Studio for its Neural Engine features. Its super reliable for upscaling since it runs on your local GPU, so you dont have to worry about weird cloud artifacts or data privacy leaks with sensitive client files. It needs a decent amount of VRAM for 4K but the stability is worth it.
  • For b-roll generation, Luma Dream Machine is getting reallyyy good results for realistic motion. Just be careful with the frame consistency on longer clips because it can still get a bit trippy, idk if the physics are 100% there for every shot yet.

In my experience, relying too heavily on the newer AI tools can be a bit of a trap if youre not careful. I was working on this high-end commercial promo a few months back and honestly thought I could just prompt my way out of a deadline. Big mistake!! Half the b-roll looked like a glitchy mess. But yeah, I've found a flow that actually works for 4K stuff now. For the upscaling side of things, I would suggest just going with Topaz. Honestly, you cant go wrong with their software for cleaning up footage. It's super reliable and I'm reallyyy happy with how it handles noise. For b-roll, I usually stick with Runway but I'm always cautious... iirc their generation stuff is getting better but I'd suggest keeping it as a supplement. Basically, go with the big industry names and you'll be fine. Just dont over-rely on it or you'll spend more time fixing artifacts than you would've editing from scratch. Cheers!
