honestly I am so done with my current razer blade it just keeps thermal throttling right when things get intense in my valorant matches and it basically cost me my rank last night. Im literally peaking at like 40 fps mid-fight and its driving me insane since I paid so much for this thing two years ago.
I have a local tournament here in Chicago next weekend and I seriously need a replacement that wont fail on me like this one did. My budget is around 2500 bucks but I need something that can actually handle high refresh rates without melting a hole in my desk. what is currently the best laptop for competitive gaming that is actually reliable?
Honestly man, I feel your pain. I had a similar nightmare a few years back with a thin-and-light that promised the world but just throttled into oblivion right when I was about to win a clutch. It's the worst feeling when your gear lets you down. Since you have a tournament coming up in Chicago, you really gotta prioritize cooling over aesthetics this time. Be careful with those ultra-slim designs because they just cant handle the heat of a long session. I would suggest looking at the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 Intel Core i9-14900HX RTX 4080 32GB RAM. It's a bit of a tank compared to the Razer, but that extra bulk is there for a reason. You might want to consider these things to stay safe:
Like someone mentioned, thermal design is king! I had that same nightmare until I upgraded.
I'm always a bit wary of thin designs now, but I had a fantastic experience moving to a thicker chassis after my old one overheated! It was amazing how stable my frame rates became once I prioritized thermal design. IIRC some people said advanced vapor chambers are the secret to staying cool.
