I'm finally upgrading my workstation this year and really need some advice on a new graphics card. I've been taking on more 4K 60fps projects lately, and my current setup is seriously struggling with playback and export times in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.

I'm stuck between getting an RTX 4080 Super or just biting the bullet for the 4090. VRAM is a big concern for me since I do a lot of heavy color grading and use AI denoise tools. I've also looked at AMD's latest offerings, but I'm unsure about their performance in creative apps compared to Nvidia.

What do you think is the best value GPU for a smooth 4K workflow in 2024?

So i get why your stuck on this, but for your situation, I would suggest the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB as the absolute best value pick. It usually retails around $999, which is way more reasonable than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB that is still sitting at like $1,700 or more right now.

  • The 16GB VRAM on the 4080 Super is actually plenty for 4K 60fps timelines in Resolve, even with heavy grading and some noise reduction.
  • Nvidia CUDA cores are basically industry standard for those AI denoise tools; AMD cards like the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB have more VRAM for around $930, but they kinda lack the same driver stability in Premiere Pro.
  • I would suggest looking at the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB GDDR6X specifically because it has killer cooling for those long export sessions. Basically, dont spend that extra $700 plus unless you literally do this for a living 80 hours a week. The 4080 Super handles 4K workflows like a champ and saves you a ton of cash. gl!

I remember trying to edit 4K 60fps on a card with low memory and it was basically impossible once I added noise reduction. Honestly, I think the flagship green team card is ur best bet because of that 24GB buffer. I mean, someone told me those AI tools really eat up VRAM, so the extra headroom is a lifesaver. It is pricey, but it saves three hours on long exports... worth it for heavy grading.
