Just saw this thread and wanted to share my experience since I spent weeks obsessing over this for my own setup. I transitioned to using my Blade 14 as my primary workstation about six months ago and honestly, the results have been great. Here is what I picked up during the process:
- Since the Blade 14 uses AMD, I had to be really careful about compatibility. I realized quickly that standard USB-C docks with high bandwidth support worked much better for me than trying to force a Thunderbolt connection that might be unstable.
- The unit I eventually settled on handles my dual monitor setup perfectly. I was worried about flickering at high refresh rates, but it has been rock solid so far.
- One thing to keep in mind is the power draw. Even though my dock provides power over the cable, I still use the dedicated Razer charger when I am doing anything intensive. Tbh the USB-C delivery just isnt enough to keep the battery from draining during a heavy gaming session.
- Cable management was my main goal and now I basically have a one-cable solution for my peripherals, which makes the whole desk look way cleaner. I am really satisfied with how it turned out. It definitely took some trial and error to get the displays to behave, but it was worth the effort... simple and clean is the way to go.
