I'm finally putting together a new high-end rig this year and want to stick with AMD, but I'm honestly a bit torn between the current options. I've heard amazing things about the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and its incredible gaming performance thanks to the 3D V-Cache, but with the Ryzen 9000 series now in the mix, Iām wondering if I should go for the latest gen or stick with the proven X3D chips. I mainly play CPU-intensive titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator and competitive shooters at 1440p. Since I want this build to last on the AM5 platform, which chip currently offers the absolute best gaming experience? Is the 7800X3D still the king, or should I look at something else for a premium 2024 build?
For your situation, stick with the X3D. - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D: Still the absolute king for MSFS. The value is way better than the new stuff.
- AMD Ryzen 7 9700X: Honestly a disappointment... gaming gains are basically non-existent for the extra cost. Unfortunately, the 9000 series isn't as good as expected for pure gaming builds. Id just grab the 7800X3D and save ur cash. peace
sooo basically, i was in the same boat! i was reallyyy worried about picking something too experimental or unstable for my first big rig... 1. honestly, the one i got with the special cache handles frame times in sims way better!! 2. the newest series has higher raw speeds, but lacks that specialized gaming cache i think... basically, the 'proven king' is still top for 1440p. it's actually amazing and so reliable!! 👍
