I'm planning to upgrade my PC with a GeForce RTX 5080 for gaming and video editing. What CPU would you recommend that can maximize the performance of this GPU? I'm looking for something that balances both gaming and productivity tasks effectively. Price is below $600. Any insights on specific models or brands would be greatly appreciated!

Just saw this thread and it got me thinking. Before I jump in with a specific pick, what kind of resolution are you editing at exactly? Like, are we talking standard 4K footage or are you dealing with heavy 8K raw files? It makes a huge difference for how you should prioritize the budget between core count and clock speed. Man, seeing people talk about these high-end setups reminds me of my brothers build last winter. He went all out on parts but didnt double-check his case dimensions with the new GPU length. He spent like six hours trying to squeeze everything in only to realize the card was literally millimetres too long. He actually tried to dremel out part of his drive bay to make it fit... it was a total disaster. Then he realized his power supply didnt have enough dedicated rails for the new power connectors and he had to wait another week for shipping. Just a massive headache from start to finish because he rushed into it without checking the boring stuff like physical clearances and cable lengths. Made me super cautious about ever doing a day-one upgrade again without measuring everything three times first.

Get Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Or you can also wait for Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

^ This. Also, I am totally terrified about compatibility stuff with these new builds! Like, is the motherboard even gonna recognize the chip without a flash? It is just so stressful and honestly I get so anxious that I am gonna fry something or bend a tiny pin because everything is just so expensive these days!!
- worrying about the power draw
- praying the bios is updated
- making sure the cooler actually fits I actually spent all yesterday trying to measure my current desk because I am worried a new case wont even fit on it! I ended up going down a rabbit hole looking at those fancy standing desks and then somehow started watching videos of people DIY-ing their own wood furniture with resin. It looked so cool and amazing but I would definitely mess that up too lol. Anyway sorry I kinda went off topic there!
