Prime Day is coming up and I'm finally ready to upgrade to a 65-inch TV for my living room. Has anyone spotted any good early deals or have predictions on which brands might go on sale? I'm hoping to snag something decent for under $1000 if possible. Should I wait for Prime Day or are there better deals happening elsewhere? Also, any recommendations on specific models to watch for? Really appreciate any tips or insights!

Tbh, I’d be a little careful with the Fire TV suggestion. They’re fine for a guest room, but for a main living room setup, I REALLY think you can do better for under $1,000. Well actually, it’s about the processing—Amazon's hardware is okay, but it lacks the 'brain' that more established brands have. I mean, I'm usually pretty cautious with my tech purchases, and here is why I'd look elsewhere: - **Image Processing:** Brands like Sony or even TCL have spent years perfecting how to handle motion and upscaling. On a 65-inch screen, you’ll definitely notice if the upscaling is bad when watching non-4K content.
- **Panel Longevity:** I’m a bit of a conservative buyer, so I worry about the quality control on house-brand TVs. I'd rather stick with a manufacturer that specializes in displays rather than a retail giant.
- **Specific Models:** Keep an eye out for the Sony X85K or the Hisense U8H. Both should dip under that $1k mark during Prime Day and honestly, they usually offer much better contrast and color accuracy. Basically, dont rush into the first 'deal' you see splashed on the homepage. Prime Day is great, but definitely wait for the 'Lightning Deals' on the big-name brands first!

For under $1000 65 inch TV, get the Amazon Fire TV 65" Omni Mini-LED TV.

I am kinda new to this whole thing but I just went through the same struggle when I bought my current setup. I was really worried about whether I should pay for the setup service or just do it myself to save some money. I ended up going the DIY route with a friend and here is what I learned from my experience:

  • It is REALLY heavy so do not try to lift it alone or you might drop it.
  • Buying your own wall mount is way cheaper than the ones they suggest in the cart but make sure the screws are tight.
  • I spent like three hours just trying to hide the wires because I did not want to drill holes in the wall. It was honestly pretty stressful and I kept checking if the brackets were straight. Does anyone else worry about the wall actually holding the weight? I am still a bit nervous every time I sit under it but yeah it was a good learning experience even if I felt like a total beginner doing it.
