Im finally finishing my mid-range build this weekend but I am torn between the Corsair RM750e and the Cooler Master MWE Gold 750. Both are under my $100 limit at the local shop. The Corsair seems popular but I heard the cables are stiff... which one would you guys grab for a first timer?

I'd actually disagree with those choices. I've been very satisfied with the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 750W 80+ Gold lately because it feels more robust. Reliability is my main priority for builds, tho. Quick tips:

  • Prioritize units using high-quality Japanese capacitors
  • Verify the warranty covers at least 7-10 years Its worked well for me and the stability is excellent for the price.

Be careful with noise on that Corsair unit, tbh... i would suggest the Seasonic Focus GX-750 750W 80+ Gold instead. Tip: dont ever mix cables from different PSUs or you'll fry everything!

I would suggest the Corsair RM750e 750W 80 Plus Gold ATX 3.0 for its superior transient response. Be careful with those stiff cables tho, as they can be difficult to route in tight corners. Make sure to verify the revision of the Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 V2 80 Plus Gold since earlier batches had less reliable fan profiles. I've found the Corsair's ripple suppression is generally more consistent for mid-range builds.

I have been very satisfied with the MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750W 80+ Gold lately, it works well and handles spikes with no complaints. Quick tip: check if you need ATX 3.0 support for your specific GPU. What components are you actually using tho? I need to know the CPU and GPU to see if 750W is the right target for your efficiency curve.
