Hey everyone! I’m finally pulling the trigger on an AM5 build and decided to go with the Ryzen 5 7600 as the heart of my new setup. Since this chip is pretty power-efficient, I don’t think I need a high-end X670 board, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of budget options currently on the market.
I’m trying to keep the motherboard cost under $150 if possible. My main priorities are decent VRMs—just in case I decide to upgrade to a beefier Ryzen 9 or a future X3D chip down the road—and I definitely need at least two M.2 NVMe slots for my storage. I’ve been looking at boards like the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 and some of the Gigabyte DS3H models, but I’m worried about cutting too many corners on things like BIOS stability or enough fan headers for my case. Built-in Wi-Fi would be a nice bonus, but I’m willing to skip it if the board is rock-solid otherwise.
I’ve done some research, but it’s hard to tell which ones actually perform well in the real world versus just on paper. For those of you who have already moved to the AM5 platform, which budget-friendly B650 board would you recommend that offers the best balance of features and reliability for a 7600 build?
Just sharing my experience: I went through this last month trying to stay under $130. I finally grabbed the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 for about $110. - VRMs are actually solid
- Only two RAM slots tho
- No Wi-Fi built in It works great for my 7600, but I honestly wonder if I shoulda just spent the extra $25 for the ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi for the extra M.2 slot... idk! lol
> "in my experience, id suggest the ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi." +1 to what was said earlier. The ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi is definitely the play. Honestly, I've been disappointed with the Gigabyte B650M DS3H lately—its VRMs just aren't as good as expected for future-proofing. ASRock actually included a solid 8+2+1 phase design that won't choke. The MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI is an okay alternative, but unfortunately it's usually pricier for fewer M.2 slots. Stick with the Pro RS... gl!
Nice, didn't know that
yo! am5 is built for longevity, so choosing solid VRMs is basically everything if you want to upgrade later. in my experience, id suggest the ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi. it literally has three M.2 slots and way better power delivery than those basic ds3h models. its been super stable in my builds and is honestly the best value for a 7600 right now. gl!
