Honestly, if youre realy serious about a dark room setup, you need to look at contrast ratios above everything else. Most people recommend IPS panels because of the colors, but in the dark, that IPS glow is gonna drive you crazy lol. It basically turns every black scene into a muddy grey mess. From what I see in the community reviews and my own testing, you should definately check out a high-quality VA panel or a Mini-LED if you dont want to go full OLED. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 is a beast for this. It uses a VA panel with local dimming zones, so you get those deep blacks that actually look black, not grey. Here is why it works for a dark room:

  • Native contrast is way higher than any IPS
  • Local dimming helps eliminate haloing in dark scenes
  • 4K resolution looks crisp for multitasking too
  • High refresh rate handles motion without that nasty VA smear Tbh, OLED is the king of dark rooms, but if you're worried about burn-in or want something that gets way brighter, a Mini-LED VA is a great middle ground. Just make sure the local dimming is decent, otherwise youll see blooming around bright objects which is realy obvious when the lights are off.
