I finally managed to snag a PS5, but I'm still stuck playing on an old 1080p office monitor. It definitely doesn't do the console justice! I'm looking to upgrade to a 4K display, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the options and technical jargon out there.
I'm specifically looking for a monitor that supports:
I've been looking at brands like LG and Samsung, but I can't decide if 27 or 32 inches is better for a desk setup. What models are you guys currently using that deliver the best 4K experience?
yo, congrats on the ps5! i totally get the struggle... playing on an old 1080p screen literally wastes the consoles potential. honestly, i had a pretty disappointing experience with the Samsung Odyssey G7 S28AG70 28-inch 4K Gaming Monitor cuz the hdr just didnt pop like i wanted it to for the price. unfortunately, some of these premium screens are a letdown and the local dimming was just not as good as expected. anyway, if you wanna save some cash but still get those hdmi 2.1 features, i highkey recommend the Gigabyte M28U 28-inch 4K Gaming Monitor. it basically has everything: vrr, 120hz, and its usually around $450-500 which is a steal compared to others. for a desk setup, i think 28 inches is the sweet spot. i tried 32 inches once and it was like... way too big for my eyes to track everything at close range. plus, the LG 27GP950-B 27 inch Ultragear UHD Gaming Monitor is another solid pick but it costs way more than the gigabyte for similar specs. how deep is your desk though?? that makes a huge difference for choosing the size!
TL;DR: 32 inches is SO much better for immersion because 4K looks way more epic at that size! Stumbled upon this discussion and had a quick question - what is the MAX you wanna spend? Honestly, realy good HDR costs a ton, but the ASUS TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A 28-inch 4K HDR Monitor is basically the best value pick for those technical specs if u wanna save some cash tho!
Quick question - what is your budget like? High-end HDR is SO expensive lol. I am torn between recommending the LG 27GP950-B 27-inch Ultragear UHD Nano IPS Gaming Monitor for its amazing Nano IPS colors vs the Gigabyte M32U 32-inch 4K UHD KVM Gaming Monitor which gives you that 32-inch immersion for less money. The LG has better tech but the Gigabyte is basically the value king i think? Let me know your price range!!
Been thinking about your question and honestly, if you want reliability above all else, the Dell G3223Q 32-inch 4K UHD Gaming Monitor is built like a tank and handles the PS5 specs perfectly. Or if you want that ecosystem synergy, the Sony INZONE M9 27-inch 4K HDR Gaming Monitor is great because it automatically syncs HDR settings with the console. I actually spent half the morning trying to figure out how to hide all my power bricks behind my desk. I bought this fancy cable management box but it turns out I have way more stuff plugged in than I realized... printers, chargers, two monitors, the console... it never ends. I ended up just shoving everything into a corner and hoping for the best, though it kinda looks like a fire hazard now ngl. But yeah, those two are solid options that wont let you down.
