Hey everyone! I finally managed to upgrade my setup, but now I’m stuck trying to find the perfect 4K gaming monitor to actually make the most of my PS5. I’ve been playing on an old 1080p TV for years, and I know I’m missing out on all those sharp details and smooth frame rates that current-gen consoles offer.

I’ve been doing some research, but honestly, it’s getting a bit overwhelming with all the new 2024 releases hitting the market. I definitely need something with full HDMI 2.1 support so I can hit that 4K at 120Hz mark, and I’m really curious about Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support since I’ve heard it makes a huge difference in performance. I’m currently torn between going for a 32-inch OLED for those incredible deep blacks or sticking with a high-end Mini-LED to avoid any potential burn-in concerns since I play for long sessions. My budget is around $800, but I'm willing to stretch it if the quality is really there.

Has anyone recently picked up a new monitor for their console? I’m looking for something with great HDR performance that doesn't look washed out in darker scenes. What would you say is the absolute best 4K gaming monitor for the PS5 right now if I want the best possible visual experience?

yo, congrats on the upgrade! I feel u on the 1080p struggle... switching to 4K is literally gonna change ur life lol. Basically, HDMI 2.1 is what lets ur PS5 push that high bandwidth for 4K at 120Hz. VRR is highkey a game changer too cuz it syncs the monitor's refresh rate to the console's output, which stops that annoying screen tearing when the FPS dips in heavy scenes. Honestly, I had issues with an older IPS panel where the HDR was just a grey, washed-out mess, so I totally get wanting those deep blacks. If ur worried about long sessions and burn-in like I was, Mini-LED is probably the move for a practical setup. Here’s what I’d suggest based on what I’ve actually used: * Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 32-inch 4K UHD 165Hz Curved Gaming Monitor - This thing hits the sweet spot for ur budget. It's Mini-LED so the HDR is super punchy and you dont have to baby the screen. I've seen it around $750-800 lately. * LG 32GR93U-B 32-inch UltraGear 4K UHD - A bit more budget-friendly (usually $600ish). It's a standard IPS, so not as good as OLED in the dark, but it’s very reliable and the HDMI 2.1 works perfectly with the PS5 features. * MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED 32-inch 4K 240Hz Gaming Monitor - If you can stretch that $800 budget a bit... the image quality is insane. But yeah, OLED might be risky if ur a 10-hour marathon gamer tbh. Anyway, pretty sure either of those first two will make ur games look 10x better than that old TV... gl! 👍

Sooo adding my two cents!! You might find this useful - check out RTINGS for technical HDR benchmark data. Since you're cautious about burn-in, maybe skip OLED?? 1. Gigabyte M32U 32-inch 4K Gaming Monitor - Best budget 4K pick. It's like $600 and handles VRR perfectly!!
2. Innocn 27M2V 27-inch 4K Mini LED Monitor - 1152 dimming zones for incredible HDR under $800. Stick with Mini-LED to avoid permanent damage from static HUDs. gl!
