Hey everyone! I’m finally looking to upgrade to a serious high-end setup. I've been trying to stream AAA titles like Cyberpunk on my current rig, but it really struggles once I open OBS and my overlays. I need a beast that can handle 1440p gaming while streaming at 1080p/60fps without any frame drops. I’ve been looking at the Razer Blade 16 and the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18, but I'm a bit worried about thermal throttling during those long 6-hour sessions. Does anyone have experience with these, or are there better options with an RTX 4090 and great cooling? What do you guys think is the absolute best powerhouse for a full-time streamer?
In my experience, you’ve gotta understand that heat is the absolute enemy of a full-time streaming setup. basically, when you're running a heavy hitter like Cyberpunk 2077 and encoding a 1080p stream at the same time, your CPU and GPU are pulling massive wattage. In those thinner chassis like the Razer Blade, that heat builds up fast and eventually the system downclocks to save itself. thats where you get those annoying frame drops that ruin a stream, right? I was honestly pretty worried about this too cuz I do long sessions, and after a lot of research, I settled on the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2024) G834JY-XS97 with Intel Core i9-14900HX and RTX 4090. I've been super satisfied with it for about six months now. The reason it works so well is the "Tri-Fan" tech and that full-width heatsink at the back... it actually moves air properly compared to smaller laptops. I mean, it's a total brick to carry around, but the thermals stay stable even after 5 or 6 hours of high-bitrate streaming. But look, if you want to be extra safe like me, I'd still suggest getting a high-quality cooling pad. I use the IETS GT500 Powerful Turbo Fan Laptop Cooling Pad (5000 RPM) and it makes a HUGE difference. seriously. It forces filtered air into the intakes and keeps my temps about 10-15 degrees lower. If you're going professional, you cant really risk the hardware throttling mid-game. So yeah, the SCAR 18 is a powerhouse, just be ready for the size of it!! good luck with the setup dude.
Quick question - do you actually need this to be portable, or is it basically gonna stay on your desk? Tbh, knowing your space helps cuz high-end thermals vary wildly. I've had zero complaints with these: * MSI Titan GT77 HX with RTX 4090 — literal tank with 4 fans.
* Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 8 with RTX 4090 — has an internal liquid loop. Both handle long streams way better than thinner options that don't have the room!
Bookmarked, thanks!
