Hey everyone! I’m finally looking to make the jump from 1080p to a 1440p setup for my competitive gaming, but I’m honestly a bit torn on which GPU to grab. I mostly play fast-paced shooters like Apex Legends, Warzone, and Valorant, so my priority is definitely hitting high, stable frame rates rather than just having pretty visuals. I recently picked up a 240Hz 1440p monitor, and I really want a card that can actually take advantage of that refresh rate without constantly dipping during intense gunfights.
I’ve been looking at the RTX 4070 Super and the RX 7900 GRE as potential options, but I’m not sure if I should step up to something like a 4080 Super just to be safe for future-proofing. I want to keep my input lag as low as possible, so features like NVIDIA Reflex are a big deal for me. I’m trying to find that 'sweet spot' where I’m not overpaying for 4K performance I won't use, but I also don't want to feel underpowered on larger maps. What are you guys currently using for high-refresh 1440p? Is the 4070 Ti Super worth the extra cash for the 16GB VRAM, or is there a better value pick I’m missing for strictly competitive settings?

Sooo, been thinking about your setup! For a 240Hz 1440p beast, I'd highkey grab the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super. The 16GB VRAM is basically a must for long-term Warzone play! * NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super: Amazing Reflex support + future-proof VRAM. * AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE: Fantastic raw value, but misses that NVIDIA edge. Honestly, the Ti Super is the literal sweet spot for comp gaming right now. gl!

For your situation, I think the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super is actually the way to go if you want to be cost-conscious. I’m fairly new to high-end builds, but I just grabbed one and I’m sooo happy with how it handles 1440p. I know the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super was already suggested, and yeah the 16GB VRAM is nice for stuff like Warzone, but idk if it’s worth the extra $200 for competitive shooters where you usually run lower settings anyway. Reflex is huge for Valorant, so I’d definitely stick with Nvidia over something like the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE, even though that card is cheaper. My 4070 Super hits crazy high frames and it’s been working well with no complaints at all! It feels like the perfect middle ground without overpaying for 4K stuff you wont even use. gl!

honestly, if youre trying to lock in a stable 240Hz at 1440p without those annoying frame dips, you should probably look at the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super. its basically the reliability pick if you want to be 100% sure you arent dropping frames during a chaotic Warzone match or a late-game Apex circle. I’m always a bit paranoid about frame time consistency, and having that extra overhead really helps keep your input lag super stable. I mean, the 4080 Super has a way more robust power delivery and better cooling on most models compared to the lower tiers, so it wont start thermal throttling after a few hours of grinding. Its definitely more of an investment, but for a high-refresh 240Hz panel, it feels like the safest way to avoid being underpowered on those larger maps. Yeah, it might seem like overkill for Valorant, but for titles with complex geometry and lots of players, having that extra hardware safety net is huge for peace of mind. Plus, you get the full benefit of Reflex with plenty of headroom to spare.
