Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to a 1440p monitor, but my old GTX 1660 is seriously struggling to keep up. I’m looking for a new GPU, but I need to keep it strictly under $400. I’ve been looking at the RTX 4060 Ti and the RX 7700 XT, but I'm torn between NVIDIA's features and AMD's better VRAM offerings. I mostly play titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Starfield, and I’m really hoping to hit a stable 60 FPS on high settings. Given the current prices, which card offers the best bang for your buck right now for 1440p? Is it worth going slightly over budget, or is there a clear winner under $400?

For your situation, I'd suggest the Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB. I've used both, and while the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is a decent option, it lowkey struggles with 1440p in games like Starfield... You can find the 7700 XT for around 390 bucks now. Basically, the extra VRAM makes it a much better value for 1440p. It's the clear winner under four hundred imo. gl!

Jumping in here, basically 1440p high settings require serious VRAM. Starfield and Cyberpunk are pretty heavy, and that 8GB buffer on the 4060 Ti is a major bottleneck. Heres what I recommend:
ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB OC: Best raw rasterization performance under $400.
XFX Speedster SWFT 319 Radeon RX 6800 16GB: Huge VRAM for future-proofing. Nvidias features are cool, but raw power wins here. gl!

In my experience, moving up to 1440p is a massive jump that really tests your hardware limits!! I went through this exact struggle about a year ago. At first, I tried to make it work with an 8GB card because I'm a big fan of those Nvidia features, but honestly... it just wasnt enough for titles like Starfield. The memory bottleneck was SO frustrating and caused constant micro-stutters during heavy scenes. I eventually swapped it out for the 12GB AMD card I currently use and the stability improvement was AMAZING. Even in Cyberpunk, having that extra VRAM overhead meant I could actually keep textures on high without the game turning into a slideshow. While those extra features are nice, for a strict $400 budget, the raw performance and memory buffer are way more important for a smooth 60 FPS experience. Going with the higher memory option is definitely the move for 1440p gaming tho. gl with whatever you pick!
