I've got $1500 to spend on my first gaming PC. What's the best build for a beginner in 2024? I'm interested in 1080p gaming with room for future upgrades. Thanks.

Building on the earlier suggestion, unfortunately, most pre-builts in this price bracket have been pretty disappointing lately. I've had issues with proprietary parts and bad airflow that makes them not as good as expected for 1080p gaming. If you want room for upgrades, you really need to avoid those big-box store setups.

  • Just go with any high-airflow case from Corsair. You can't go wrong with their cable management.
  • Stick with an AMD-based motherboard. It is basically the only way to ensure you can upgrade your CPU without replacing the whole system later.
  • Make sure you get a gold-rated power supply from Seasonic. Pre-built machines usually cheap out here, which is a total disaster for future-proofing. Honestly, it is kinda frustrating how these companies cut corners on the motherboard and PSU. You are better off picking your own parts so you actually know what is inside the box... otherwise you will probably regret it when you try to swap parts in a year or two.
