I am literally so stressed out right now and I know this is probably a really stupid question but I have no idea what I am doing and the holidays are basically here. My family decided we are doing a secret santa thing this year because money is tight for everyone but the problem is we are all living in different states now. I am stuck here in Columbus and my sister moved to Florida and my parents are way down in Texas so we cant just do the normal thing where we write our names on a hat and pass around a piece of paper with our ideas. I tried looking up how to do this online but everything looks so confusing and I am really worried I am going to pick a site that is too hard for my parents to use because they basically dont know how to do anything on a phone besides call people.
I really need to find something by next Monday before everyone starts panic buying stuff. Here is what I need it to do:
I saw one site that looked like it had games and stuff but that just felt like too much and I got overwhelmed and had to close the tab. Is there just a basic list site that works for everyone? I am so worried I am gonna mess this up for the whole family and then nobody gets what they want or we all just waste money. Has anyone used something that is actually easy for like a grandma to understand...
Just saw this thread! Like someone mentioned, keeping it simple is key. You should definitely use Elfster for your family. I love it because it is literally amazing for organizing secret santas across state lines! It is fantastic how it manages the whole process. Just use any of their basic list tools and you cant go wrong. It is a very structured and reliable resource for tech-challenged parents, honestly.
> Re: "Just saw this thread! Like someone mentioned, keeping..." I am totally obsessed with how easy my current setup made things last year! Honestly I was so worried about using something that would be too complicated or not secure for my family but it turned out to be amazing! I ended up using this site and it was seriously a lifesaver because it was 100% free which was perfect for our tight budget. I loved that I could just add stuff from any random shop I found online and it all stayed on one simple list. My parents usually struggle with technology but they actually navigated it without calling me once to ask for help! It was fantastic how it tracked what was already purchased so we didnt get duplicates of everything. Just make sure the one you pick doesnt have too many ads or popups... that usually confuses people like my grandma. Keeping it basic is definitely the way to go!
I think I used Giftster a few years back for a family thing. Honestly, I am not 100% sure if it is still exactly the same today, but it felt safe and reliable at the time. My uncle who hates computers managed to use it fine without too many issues.
