My mom lives down in Florida and her eyes arent what they used to be so she struggles with the Walmart app big time. I usually do her shopping for her while I'm up here in Chicago but lately she wants to handle the actual payment part herself because she uses her EBT card and some local coupons that I cant really access from my side. I spent like an hour yesterday picking out all the specific brands she likes - the low sodium stuff and the specific brand of cat food her picky tabby eats - and now I'm stuck because I cant figure out how to just give her the cart.
I did some digging online and saw people mentioning the Share button on a list but when I tried that it just sends a link to a webpage of the items. It doesn't actually put them into her active shopping cart so she still has to click every single thing again which basically defeats the purpose of me helping her. I also read some old thread about using a browser extension but that seems super sketchy and I dont want her downloading random stuff on her tablet. Is there a legit way to just push my current cart over to her account so she can just hit place order on her end? Or am I gonna have to just log into her account and deal with the 2FA codes every single time...

Regarding what #1 said about the app being frustrating, I am very satisfied with the Share-A-Cart extension's data parsing. Does your mom use Chrome or Safari on her tablet?

Quick reply while I have a sec! I have been managing family grocery accounts for years and the key is definitely watching those unit prices to save money. I love finding a good deal on the low sodium snacks, it really helps the budget! Speaking of Florida tho, I was just down there last spring and the prices at the local farmers markets are actually insane compared to the big stores. I found this one stand selling fresh citrus and I swear I bought like five bags of oranges for ten bucks. It was fantastic! We ended up making fresh juice every single morning while sitting on the porch watching the lizards run around. My niece actually tried to catch one and it dropped its tail right in her hand, she totally freaked out lol. Anyway sorry kinda went off topic there, just thinking about the sun...

Yeah, honestly, the Walmart app is pretty frustrating when it comes to sharing carts with family. I have been doing this for my parents for over a year now and I am actually really happy with the workaround I found because it saves me so much time. You are right that the standard share button is useless because it just sends a dead list that they have to rebuild manually. I have been using this Chrome extension to handle the heavy lifting and it works well for exactly this scenario. Tbh, it is the only way I have found that actually keeps the specific brands and quantities intact.
- First, add all those specific low-sodium items and that picky cat food to your own cart while logged in.
- Use the extension to generate the cart share link.
- Send that link to your mom via email or text.
- When she clicks it on her end, the items should jump right into her cart ready for checkout. I am very satisfied with this method because it lets her handle the EBT and coupons without me needing her login info and dealing with 2FA every single time. It is a no-nonsense way to get it done. No complaints here, it has made our Sunday shopping routine way less of a headache. If her tablet doesnt like extensions, you might just have to do the initial setup on a laptop for her, but once it is set, it stays pretty stable.
