I just bought a used iPad for college because I'm trying to be organized but oh my god why is the apple pencil so expensive?? I literally spent all my savings on the tablet and now they want another 100 bucks for a pen. It makes no sense. I went on amazon and there are like a million different brands and I dont understand what the difference is or if they even work. I really need something under 30 dollars before classes start on monday. Is there a specific one that actually works for taking notes and doesnt just break after a week? Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just so lost with all these options...

To add to the point above, palm rejection is definitely the tech that makes or breaks it. I've been really satisfied with the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k=KINGONE+Upgraded+Stylus+Pen+for+ iPad+with+Tilt+Sensitivity+and+Palm+Rejection&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">KINGONE Upgraded Stylus Pen for iPad with Tilt Sensitivity and Palm Rejection. It uses an active chipset that mimics the Apple Pencil signal without needing Bluetooth, so no lag. Just make sure your <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= iPad+is+from+2018+or+late&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPad is from 2018 or later because thats when the screen tech changed to support these active pens, tbh.

Regarding what #2 said about "To add to the point above, palm rejection..." - it really is the make or break feature. I've tried many brands over the years and found that while the tech inside is similar, the build quality varies. In my experience, you want something with a solid battery and reliable magnets. I eventually landed on the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Metapen+Pencil+A8+for+ iPad+with+Fast+Charging&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Metapen Pencil A8 for iPad with Fast Charging and it's been rock solid for over a year. Heres why I stick with it:

  • it charges super fast (literally minutes for hours of use)
  • the magnets are strong enough to stay on the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= iPad+frame&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPad frame
  • tip durability is better than generic ones Most people dont realize these budget pens lack pressure sensitivity. You wont get fancy calligraphy, but for notes? You honestly wont notice the difference. I'd trust this one over the random 15 dollar ones any day.

I was in the same spot last semester! I ended up getting the JAMJAKE K10 High Precision Stylus Pen for under 25 bucks and I love it! The palm rejection is seriously flawless, which was my biggest technical worry.

  • 20-hour battery life
  • USB-C fast charging
  • zero lag Ngl, I use it more than my original pencil now because it connects instantly without any Bluetooth pairing mess. Fantastic buy for college!
