I am actually losing my mind trying to figure out what power thing to buy for my computer. I finally saved up enough to get an RX 7800 XT because my friends said it was the best for the price and I really wanted to play Cyberpunk and some other stuff on a decent screen. But now I am staring at these power supply boxes online and I literally have no idea what any of it means. I spent way more than I should have on the graphics card and now I only have like 80 or maybe 90 bucks left for the rest of the power stuff and everything I look at has these weird names like 80 plus gold or bronze and people are talking about rails and modular cables and i just want to cry lol.

I tried reading this one list people keep linking to online but it is just a giant wall of text with colors and it feels like I need a degree in engineering just to pick a box that plugs into the wall. I am so scared of buying something cheap and having it explode or fry my expensive card but I also cant afford a 200 dollar unit right now. Is there just like a normal one that works? My brother said i need 750 watts but then some guy on a discord said 600 is fine and now i am just paralyzed and havent even opened my gpu box yet because I am afraid I will mess it up.

I am in the US and trying to get this finished by Friday because that is when my time off starts and I really dont want to spend my whole vacation staring at a pile of parts. Sorry if this is a really stupid thing to ask and I know I sound totally clueless but I am just so overwhelmed by all the options and the scary warnings about cheap units. What is actually the cheapest one that is safe for a 7800 xt system that wont break my budget or catch fire?

I've built plenty of rigs and honestly, you dont want to gamble here. Over the years, I've seen cheap units fail and take the whole PC with them... ngl it's scary. Stick to 750W for that card tho.

Just seeing this now and honestly, dont sweat the tech jargon too much. I have spent way too many hours looking at ripple suppression data and load regulation charts over the years... basically, you just want something that wont go boom when the 7800 XT spikes its power draw. My first real build had a sketchy unit that actually melted a molex connector, so I totally get the fear. If you are stuck at that 90 dollar limit, these are usually my go-to picks for stability:
