honestly im about to pull my hair out with these am5 board prices and the reviews are all over the place. i bought a cheap gigabyte board last week and the coil whine is literally driving me insane like i can hear it over my fans while im just trying to play valorant. i am so done with it and im returning it tomorrow. i just want a b650 that actually works without costing like four hundred bucks which is insane for a mid range build anyway.

im building this for my younger brother as a graduation gift so i really need it to be reliable because i dont want to be his personal tech support every single weekend lol. my budget is strictly under $200 and i need something that can handle a 7800x3d down the line if he decides to upgrade later.

here is what im looking for:

  • decent vrms so it doesnt overheat or throttle
  • at least two m.2 slots because storage is so cheap now
  • wifi is a must because his dorm room doesnt have easy access to ethernet
  • a bios that isnt a total nightmare to navigate

im looking at the msi mag tomahawk or maybe an asrock board because i heard they actually boot faster but honestly i dont know what to trust anymore with all the voltage and bios issues people keep posting about. what is the actual best value pick right now that wont give me a headache...

Unfortunately budget boards are a mess lately, but the ASRock B650 Pro RS WiFi AM5 DDR5 is a solid value pick. Had issues with gigabyte too... its much better.
