What is the best motherboard for an Intel i9-14900K build?

I'm finally putting together a high-end build with an i9-14900K, but I’m honestly stuck on the motherboard choice. Since this chip is such a power-hungry beast, I’m really concerned about finding a board with top-tier VRMs and excellent cooling to prevent any thermal throttling during heavy workloads. I’m definitely looking for a Z790 chipset that has solid DDR5 support and at least three or four M.2 slots for my storage. I’ve been looking at the ROG Maximus and Aorus Master series, but the price range is all over the place and I'm a bit overwhelmed. What Z790 motherboard would you recommend that strikes the best balance between power delivery and price for this specific CPU?

TL;DR: Grab the MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi. It basically has everything you need—4 M.2 slots and solid VRMs—without the insane "Maximus tax." Honestly, if you don't plan on extreme overclocking, the flagships are overkill. The ASUS ROG Strix Z790-F Gaming WiFi II is another pretty good choice if you want the ROG vibe for less cash. ok so i totally get the struggle... when i was building my 14900k setup last year i was literally staring at spec sheets for weeks cuz i didnt want my vrms to hit 100c under load. i actually started with a cheaper board and it throttled immediately, which was super annoying. i finally swapped it for a high-end z790 board from the Aorus line and i've been so satisfied with how it handles the power draw. honestly, no complaints since then. for ur situation, here's what i recommend based on what worked for me: 1. check the vrms: ur basically looking for something with at least 20+1+2 power stages. i found that boards with 105A or 110A stages handle the 14900k peaks way better without getting hot, right?
2. m.2 heatsinks: honestly, dont get a board where the m.2 slots are just bare. these new gen 5 drives and even gen 4 ones get toastyyy under heavy workloads, so u need those thick heatspreaders.
3. pcie layout: make sure the slots are spaced out enough if ur using a chunky gpu... it helps with the overall airflow around the chipset and lower vrms. the biggest lesson i learned is that u dont actually need to drop $800 on the extreme flagship models. those are cool for bragging rights but the mid-tier enthusiast boards in the $400 range (like the Master or the Hero series) give u basically 99% of the performance. my temps have been rock solid even during long rendering sessions. focus on the power delivery specs over the flashier stuff... gl with the build! peace
