Hey everyone! I’m finally putting together my dream all-white gaming rig, and I'm feeling a bit stuck on the motherboard. I’m looking for a solid Z790 board that actually leans into that clean, white aesthetic rather than just having a tiny bit of silver. I’ve been eyeing the ASUS ROG Strix Z790-A and the Gigabyte AERO G, but I’m curious about real-world stability. Performance is super important since I’m pairing it with an i9-14900K, so I need beefy VRMs and at least four M.2 slots for my NVMe drives. Does anyone have experience with these, or is there a hidden gem I’m missing? Which Z790 board offers the best balance of white-out looks and high-end features?

honestly, i feel u on the white aesthetic struggle!! if u want to save cash, check out the GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS ELITE AX ICE. it's usually around $250, a total steal compared to the $350 strix. it's got beefy vrms for ur i9-14900k and 4 m.2 slots. basically same vibes but way cheaper... in my experience, it hits the sweet spot for value. gl with the build!!

Yo, 14900Ks need massive power for stability. Pro tip: check the 'Z790 VRM Spreadsheet' for technical stuff and the ASRock Z790 Taichi Carrara. I use it, it's SO good!

Regarding what #2 said about "Yo, 14900Ks need massive power for stability. Pro..." - hes totally right. I remember my first high-end build where I picked a board just for the looks and it was a total disaster... the VRMs kept overheating and my PC would just shut down in the middle of a match. Since then, I always check the thermal benchmarks first. To help narrow it down, I gotta ask:

  • Are you gonna be overclocking that i9 or just leaving it stock?
  • How much extra are you willing to pay for that white finish? The white tax is definitely a thing and sometimes you pay $100 more just for a different color shroud. Id suggest checking out the Tier Lists on the LTT forums or looking up some deep-dive teardowns on YouTube before you commit. Sometimes the silver boards look basically white once theyre under some bright LEDs anyway... could save you a chunk of cash for a better GPU or more storage.
