I've finally saved up about 650 bucks for a monitor upgrade and i'm stuck between two main choices. I'm looking at that older LG 27GR95QE since the price dropped big time lately or the new MSI MAG 271QPX which seems like better value long term. My desk is honestly tiny so I definitely cant fit anything over 27 inches which limits things. I mostly play fast paced shooters like Apex and I want that crazy low response time everyone talks about. The LG is sitting at $600 right now but people say the MSI has a better panel? i'm buying this week so i gotta decide fast. Which one is actually the better deal for a budget oled setup right now?
Honestly, I had huge issues with the LG 27GR95QE-B 27-inch Ultragear OLED 240Hz and ended up returning mine after two weeks. The brightness is unfortunately pathetic for an OLED. It felt like I was staring at a screen with the power saver mode permanently turned on. Plus, that heavy matte finish really kills the infinite contrast vibe people hype up so much. It just was not as good as expected for a high-end display. The MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 360Hz is a massive step up in terms of the actual panel quality, but MSI made some really frustrating choices with the MAG line specifically. Tbh its kind of annoying how they gatekeep features.
I bought the LG 27GR95QE-B 27-inch Ultragear OLED and unfortunately had issues with the fan noise and the text clarity was just bad. Switching to the MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 27-inch 360Hz made a massive difference tho.
Regarding what #2 said about the LG 27GR95QE-B 27-inch Ultragear OLED 240Hz, i'm totally satisfied with the advice you've gotten. Technically, the MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 27-inch 360Hz is the clear winner for $650. That gen 3 QD-OLED panel has way better subpixel density for text and the 360Hz motion persistence is incredible for apex. It's definitely the smarter long-term investment for a small desk setup.
