So my current monitor just started dying on me and I need a replacement like literally today if I want it by the weekend. I just built this beast with an RTX 4090 and it feels wrong to use it on a budget screen. Im totally torn between the Alienware AW3423DWF and the Samsung Neo G9. My logic was that the OLED on the Alienware is unbeatable for colors, but then I see the G9 and think man thats a lot of screen. I only have about $1200 left in the budget after the PC build and my desk space is pretty limited so maybe the 49 inch is too much? I gotta decide in the next hour...

TL;DR: Grab the Alienware AW3423DWF 34-inch QD-OLED 165Hz. The Samsung is honestly too massive for most desks and the quality control is super disappointing for such a high price point. I really wanted to love the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NA 49-inch Mini-LED because that screen real estate looks insane on paper, but in reality, it was kind of a letdown. I struggled with some weird flickering issues and the scanlines are still a thing on certain colors, which just feels wrong when you are powering it with an RTX 4090. Plus, if you are cramped for space, that stand is a total desk hog. Its just not as good as expected for the money. The Alienware is where its at, tbh. Its not as big, sure, but the colors are incredible. OLED makes a massive difference in games like Cyberpunk or anything with deep blacks. Unfortunately, the text clarity on QD-OLED isnt as good as a standard IPS, but for gaming, you wont even notice. If you want a safer bet that isnt OLED, you could check out the LG UltraGear 34GP950G-B 34-inch Nano IPS 144Hz. It lacks those perfect blacks, but it has been more reliable in my experience. Seriously tho, stick with the Alienware. It fits your budget and your desk, and it lets that 4090 actually shine. You got this!

TL;DR: Stick to 34-inch OLEDs. They fit your desk and the 4090 pushes them perfectly without being a total headache to set up. To add to the point above: I totally agree about the desk space thing. I actually tried a super-ultrawide last year and it was just way too much for a standard desk. You end up having to sit so far back just to see the corners that you lose the immersion anyway. It is kinda overwhelming tbh. Honestly, I have been super happy with the MSI MPG 341CQP QD-OLED 34-inch 175Hz. It is basically the same gorgeous panel as the big names but I got mine for a much better price, which helps when you just dropped a fortune on a 4090. The black levels are perfect and gaming on it feels incredibly snappy. No complaints with the firmware either, which is usually where these things get annoying. If you want another cost-effective choice that works well, look at the Gigabyte MO34WQC 34-inch QD-OLED. It is a very direct, no-frills monitor that does exactly what it says on the box. Both of these will leave you with a few hundred bucks left in your pocket while still giving you that high-end OLED pop you are looking for. No point overspending just for a logo when the performance is this good. Grab one of these and you wont regret it.

Whoa, that 4090 is an absolute beast! Congrats on the build! If your desk space is tight, definitely skip the 49-inch screens... they're literally massive and kinda overwhelming for close-up gaming imo. Since you want that OLED pop but need to save space, these are fantastic alternatives:

  • The LG 34GS95QE-B 34-inch UltraGear OLED 240Hz is amazing because it's way faster than the Alienware. The 800R curve is super immersive too!
  • If you want something slightly different, the MSI MPG 341CQP QD-OLED 34-inch 175Hz uses that same gorgeous QD-OLED tech but it's often a bit cheaper. I basically live on Rtings whenever I'm buying new gear. Their side-by-side tool is a total lifesaver for comparing brightness and color gamut. Honestly, once you go OLED you can never go back to regular screens, it's just a night and day difference!
