im freaking out a bit because my old dell just died right before a huge project starts next week so i need a new rig fast. i mainly do heavy 4k color grading in davinci resolve and some after effects stuff. my budget is capped at like $3800 and i need to pick it up locally in NYC tomorrow.
im torn between these two:
the mac seems safer for battery life but i hear the razer is a beast for rendering speeds. which one is gonna handle long exports better without sounding like a jet engine? i really cant decide and the clock is ticking...
Honestly, just go grab the Mac and dont look back! I have been using the Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M3 Max 14-core CPU 30-core GPU 36GB RAM for my last few 4K projects and its an absolute beast. DaVinci Resolve is basically black magic on Apple silicon because of those dedicated media engines. The Razer is powerful but man, it gets so loud you cant even hear yourself think during a long export. Since youre in NYC, hit up BH or the Apple Store first thing tomorrow. If you can find the Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch M3 Max 16-core CPU 40-core GPU 48GB RAM within your 3800 budget, grab that for the extra thermal headroom and the bigger screen. The battery life is amazing, but the lack of fan noise while grading is the real winner here!
> which one is gonna handle long exports better Unfortunately, Razer thermal throttling is disappointing. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 Intel Core Ultra 9 185H RTX 4080 is technically superior for $3800; it wont throttle clock speeds during long DaVinci renders.
