Hey everyone! I’m finally upgrading my workstation and decided to make the jump to AMD for my professional video editing needs. I mostly work with 4K 10-bit footage in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, so I really need a chip that can handle heavy color grading and multi-track timelines without those annoying proxy workflows. I’m currently torn between the Ryzen 9 7950X and the newer 9000 series, but I'm worried about thermal performance during long renders. Fast export times are a huge priority for my deadlines. Between the high-end Ryzen 9 options, which specific CPU provides the best balance of stability and raw power for a professional editing workflow?

oh man, i totally feel u on the proxy struggle... it's literally the worst when you just wanna get in the zone! honestly, in my experience, i would suggest sticking with the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X for now. i've been using it for about a year and it handles 10-bit 4K in Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio like an absolute beast!! basically, the 9000 series is amazing too, but the 7950X is such a proven workhorse for professional timelines and the price is kinda unbeatable right now. if ur worried about thermals during long renders, i definitely recommend picking up the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360—it keeps my temps way down even when i'm pushing it hard lol. plus, it’s super stable which is lowkey the most important thing for deadlines. TL;DR: Grab the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X for raw power and stability, just make sure u have a beefy AIO cooler! anyway, hope that helps! what GPU are u planning to run with it??

Hmm, I've had a different experience. Respectfully, I'd consider another option like the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X. Honestly, it's basically more efficient, so you might wanna consider the lower thermal output for long 4K renders... dont wanna hit those limits!! * AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
* G.Skill Flare X5 64GB DDR5-6000 Make sure to watch your PSU overhead too. good luck!!
