> my logic was just get the most expensive intel one but then i saw all these numbers like i7 and i9 and now im stuck. I totally get that. Back when I started my first dev job, I bought the absolute top tier chip thinking it would make me code faster, but it just made my room a sauna and crashed my IDE twice a week... literally. Stability is everything when youre trying to learn. If you go for the Intel Core i9-14900K 24-Core 6.0GHz, youre getting insane speeds but also those weird voltage issues everyone is talking about lately. Over the years, Ive found that the Intel Core i7-13700K 16-Core 5.4GHz is the sweet spot. It stays way cooler and feels more reliable than the 14th gen flagships. Honestly, the Intel Core i5-13600K 14-Core 5.1GHz is actually plenty for a bootcamp. I used one for a huge project last year and it never lagged once. Spend the leftover cash on a better monitor, trust me.
Honestly, spending the full 800 is kinda overkill and unfortunately the newest i9 chips have had major stability issues lately which is a huge letdown. I would grab the Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core 5.6GHz instead and save some cash. It is more than enough for dev work and forty tabs wont even make it sweat. Just make sure you spend that extra money on 64GB of ram because that is what actually stops the lag when multitasking... good luck with the bootcamp tho!
Oh man, welcome to the rabbit hole! Getting a beastly machine for a bootcamp is honestly the best feeling ever. Since you have 800 bucks just for the chip, you could basically buy the top of the line, but seriously, stop and think about heat before you click buy. Go for a high-end i7 or i9 tier chip, but you have to be careful with the setup.
