Which portable laptop stands provide the best ergonomics for remote work?

I've been working remotely for about six months now, and while I love the flexibility, my neck and shoulders are starting to feel the strain. I tend to bounce between my home office, local coffee shops, and the occasional co-working space, so I'm constantly setting up in different environments. Using my laptop flat on the table is definitely catching up to me, and I know I need a better ergonomic setup before I end up with permanent tech neck.

I'm specifically looking for something that is easy to throw into a backpack but doesn't compromise on stability. I've seen some of those ultra-thin folding stands, but I'm worried they might be a bit flimsy for my 15-inch MacBook Pro. I also plan on using a separate mouse and keyboard, so the stand just needs to bring the screen up to eye level effectively. I really need something that can handle a bit of weight without wobbling every time someone walks past the table.

I've looked into popular options like the Roost and the Nexstand, but I'm curious if there are other brands or specific designs I should consider that offer a good balance of height adjustment and portability. For those of you who work on the go, which portable stands have actually helped your posture without being a pain to carry around?

Besign's 4mm aluminum stops wobbles for heavy MBPs. Moft is thinner but Besign's better value than Roost mentioned earlier!

In my experience, you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to these things. honestly been there and done that for like six years now... tech neck is real lol. over the years ive tried so many stands and i used to think those thin folding ones were cool until my laptop almost slid off a wobbly table at starbucks once. definitely not a vibe. for your situation i would suggest the Roost V3 Laptop Stand without a doubt. i know it's pricey compared to the knockoffs but seriously it is so worth it. it fits a 15-inch macbook pro perfectly and doesnt wobble even if the table is kinda flimsy. plus it folds down to basically nothing and gets the screen high enough so youre not hunching over like a gargoyle. if you want something a bit cheaper but still solid then the Nexstand K2 Laptop Stand is a decent shout. its basically the same design just a bit chunkier and made of plastic. another one i actually liked for stability is the Twelve South Curve Flex cuz it looks way more premium and handles the weight of a bigger macbook like a champ. but honestly for pure portability i still go back to the roost because it fits better in a backpack side pocket. heres a quick tip tho... whatever stand you get make sure you pair it with a solid keyboard like the Logitech MX Keys Mini and a good mouse. it makes such a huge difference for your posture when you aren't reaching up to the laptop keys. honestly my neck pain literally disappeared after a week of using this setup. so yeah definitely dont skimp on the stability part cuz a 15 inch mac is heavy and you dont want it crashing down!! anyway hope that helps ur setup gl! peace

Before I give advice, what's your max budget? I tried saving money on stands, but unfortunately they had issues with wobbling:

Don't go too cheap tho!
