I just picked up a new thin-and-light laptop for work, and I’m quickly realizing that the built-in trackpad and limited ports might be a problem for my daily workflow. I want to build a setup that’s both portable and ergonomic, especially since I’m starting to feel some neck strain from staring down at the screen. I’ve been looking into things like USB-C hubs and laptop stands, but I’m worried about buying stuff I don’t actually need. Beyond a basic mouse, what are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend for a better experience? Are there any specific tools that totally changed how you use your laptop?

Yo, late to the party but I've spent way too much time obsessing over my mobile workstation specs, so I totally feel ur pain with the port situation. Since ur on a thin-and-light, a basic hub wont cut it if you want smooth video. Basically, make sure you look for something with Power Delivery passthrough so you arent wasting a port just for charging. Here's what I recommend: * Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W - it's tiny and charges ur laptop and phone at once.
* Satechi USB4 Multiport Adapter with 2.5G Ethernet - it handles 4K at 60Hz which is a MUST.
* MOFT Adhesive Laptop Stand - way slimmer than the ones already mentioned. Quick tip: grab a high-quality braided 100W USB-C cable. The ones in the box are usually trash and too short for good ergonomics. tbh, just check the refresh rate specs on any hub... most cheap ones cap at 30Hz and it's highkey annoying to look at. gl!

sooo i totally get the struggle... staring down at a thin laptop screen all day is basically a recipe for a messed up neck. i went through the same thing and honestly, you dont need to buy every gadget out there, but a few things are actually game-changers for ur workflow. Here's what I recommend: - A portable stand is highkey the most important thing for ergonomics. I use the Roost Laptop Stand V3 cuz it's super light for travel, but it's like $90. If that's too pricey, maybe look at a cheaper Nulaxy Foldable Laptop Stand LS03 for around $20. - Since ur low on ports, the Anker 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1) is a solid middle-ground choice. It's usually about $35 and handles HDMI and USB-A easily. Be careful with super cheap hubs tho, they can get really hot.
- Also, once that laptop is up on a stand, you'll definitely need a mouse. The Logitech MX Anywhere 3S is great for work on the go. I would suggest starting with just those three things. Don't go overboard until you see what you actually use daily... gl!

> staring down at the screen bad posture ruins your neck. unfortunately, i had issues with cheap gear failing... check "rtings" guides. the Logitech K380 Multi-Device Bluetooth Keyboard is a pretty reliable, budget-friendly fix!!
