Which AI tools are actually worth it for high-quality video editing right now because Im trying to level up my YouTube channel and save some time? Im honestly so hyped about how far this tech has come lately but im stuck between a few options. Right now im looking at Runway Gen-2 and Descript mostly. I do these cinematic travel vlogs based around the Pacific Northwest and I really need something that can handle clean rotoscoping or even some generative fill stuff for when I mess up a shot. Runway looks incredible for the visuals but its kinda pricey for my budget which is strictly $50 a month for all my subs combined. Then theres Descript which seems like a lifesaver for the talking head parts but I dont know if it has the oomph for the high-end cinematic stuff. I even looked into some of the Topaz stuff for upscaling but that might be overkill? I have a deadline for a sponsored video by next Friday so I need to pick something and learn it fast. Is Runway worth the extra cost for the visual quality or should I stick with something more utility-focused like Descript and just keep grinding in Premiere for the effects? Im leaning towards Runway but the credit system scares me a bit...

Building on the earlier suggestion, DaVinci is a total beast! But if you really want to stretch that $50 budget, you gotta check out Wondershare Filmora 13 Video Editor. Their AI smart cutout is legit amazing for cleaning up those PNW landscape shots! Its way more predictable than Runway and honestly way faster for quick fixes. Plus, no scary credit system to worry about... total game changer!

Building on the earlier suggestion, Premiere is definitely a workhorse, but honestly, if you are doing cinematic PNW travel vlogs, you really gotta look into Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio 19. I have been messing with video for years and their Magic Mask tool is basically a cheat code for rotoscoping. It is so much more intuitive than the manual masking in other apps, and it handles those moody, misty forest shots really well. I totally agree with the previous post about Runway being a credit sink... it is super frustrating when a render fails and you are just out of luck. If you need generative fill to fix a shot before your Friday deadline, Adobe After Effects 2024 has a Content-Aware Fill for video that works surprisingly well for removing tourists or random trash from your nature shots. It stays within that Adobe ecosystem so you arent paying for extra credits every time you click render. For the talking head parts, CapCut Pro Desktop Edition is actually kinda insane lately too. The AI background removal is fast and the auto-captions save me hours. It might feel a bit less pro than Resolve, but for about ten bucks a month, it leaves plenty of room in your budget for other tools. Stick with Resolve for the heavy cinematic lifting tho, the free version is honestly enough to get you through your next project if you dont want to drop the cash for the Studio version yet.

Unfortunately Runway Gen-2 AI Video glitched out and wasted my credits mid-render last week. Total headache tho.
